Therapeutic Engagement

Module by: Don Holloway

Therapeutic Engagement

Therapeutic Engagement is a broad overarching topic that hits upon many of the ideas discussed in the other paths in this review. The use of a centralized management information system to better track patients’ progress incorporates issues seen in the Paperwork and Intake paths. Creating patient specific treatment plans, sensitive to race, gender and age group is also addressed to some degree in the Outreach, Social Support and Levels of Care paths. The basic principles of motivational interviewing are at the core of many interventions discussed throughout this project. While the use of incentives to increase session attendance is a large part of many Outreach programs reviewed. This review will attempt to focus on literature not yet discussed but will also refer to previous work when necessary.
