Ethics Toolkit - Open Module Template

Summary: This document presents a general module template that will help structure the authoring and sharing of Ethics Across the Curriculum Integration Projects that are being developed through the NSF funded EAC Toolkit Project (SES-0551779). EAC Community members will make a derived copy of this module, then insert or reference to an ethics integration exercise in the module core/content section. Afterwards, the author, co-authors and community members will collaborate and contribute their respective expertise or experiences to complete the remaining sections and hence share best practices in the use of the embedded exercise. (This open module template may be adopted and customized to suit the needs of other subject communities.)

MODULE / EXERCISE / CASE / (CONTENT CORE)

  • Type the content of the exercise here directly
  • Upload a document using the Files tab (first example below)
  • Add a link to a published CNX module using the Links tab (see menu on the left)
  • Upload a multi-media file using the Files tab (see second example below)
  • Add a URL link to an external resource (third example below)
  • Or include some sort of reference to the relevant content.

The following sections are optional. The intent is that they be completed over time based on the experiences and collaborations of the users of the above module/exercise/case.

Definition of a lens

Lenses

A lens is a custom view of the content in the repository. You can think of it as a fancy kind of list that will let you see content through the eyes of organizations and people you trust.

What is in a lens?

Lens makers point to materials (modules and collections), creating a guide that includes their own comments and descriptive tags about the content.

Who can create a lens?

Any individual member, a community, or a respected organization.

What are tags? tag icon

Tags are descriptors added by lens makers to help label content, attaching a vocabulary that is meaningful in the context of the lens.
