'My Favorites' is a special kind of lens which you can use to bookmark modules and collections directly in Connexions. 'My Favorites' can only be seen by you, and collections saved in 'My Favorites' can remember the last module you were on. You need a Connexions account to use 'My Favorites'.
    • A lens (What is a lens?)

      Definition of a lens

      Lenses

A lens is a custom view of Connexions content. You can think of it as a fancy kind of list that will let you see Connexions through the eyes of organizations and people you trust.

      What is in a lens?

Lens makers point to Connexions materials (modules and collections), creating a guide that includes their own comments and descriptive tags about the content.

      Who can create a lens?

Any individual Connexions member, a community, or a respected organization.

Measurement Studio Packages and Help System

Module by: Subhasree Hariharan

Summary: This section gives an overview of packaging and help systems in Measurement Studio environment.

Measurement Studio Packages

Measurement Studio is available in 3 packages – Standard, Professional, and Enterprise.

Previous packages of Measurement Studio were broken down by Starter Edition, Base and Full. This breakdown was mainly for the ActiveX controls that were used with Visual Studio 6.0 (VB 6.0 and VC++ 6.0). The Visual Studio 6.0 support for Measurement Studio documentation still refers to the breakdown in this manner. All the documentation for Visual Studio .NET 2003 and 2005 has been updated to reflect the current package names.

When you purchase the Measurement Studio Professional or Enterprise Editions, you receive 2 CDs for Measurement Studio. One CD contains the Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 2003 installers and the other CD provides support for Visual Studio 6.0 ( VB 6.0 and VC++ 6.0 ). The Standard edition of Measurement Studio does not provide any support to VB 6.0 or VC++ 6.0 users.

Note:

The .NET interfaces for GPIB, VISA and DAQ are available through the actual hardware driver. To install the code generation tools like the DAQ Assistant and the Instrument I/O Assistant, you need to install the drivers in addition to Measurement Studio.

Measurement Studio System Requirements

  • Essential Installation Requirements
    • Microsoft Windows Vista/XP/2000
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for Visual Studio 2005 (required only for the Measurement Studio .NET class libraries)
    • Standard, Professional, or Team System edition of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (required to use the Measurement Studio integrated tools); or Visual C# or Visual Basic .NET Express Editions of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
  • Deployment Requirements
    • To deploy an application built with Measurement Studio .NET class libraries, the target computer must have a Windows Vista/XP/2000 operating system and .NET Framework 2.0.
    • To deploy an application built with Measurement Studio Visual C++ class libraries, the target computer must have a Windows Vista/XP/2000 operating system.

Measurement Studio Help

Measurement Studio Help is fully integrated into Visual Studio help (.NET 2003 & 2005 only)

To launch help select, Start » All Programs » National Instruments » <Measurement Studio> » Measurement Studio Documentation

From Visual Studio,

  • Select Help » Contents to view the Visual Studio table of contents. Then select NI Measurement Studio Help
  • Select Measurement Studio » NI Measurement Studio Help

Measurement Studio for Visual Studio .NET 2003/2005 help is fully integrated into Microsoft’s MSDN help.

DAQ, GPIB, and VISA .NET documentation is also integrated into the MSDN help. Measurement Studio is not required to install the .NET documentation for the hardware drivers (even though the help is still titled NI Measurement Studio Help).

Example Locations

The directories that the Measurement Studio examples install depend on the component installed, the version of Visual Studio or the .NET Framework the example supports, the version of Measurement Studio installed, and the operating system.

In Measurement Studio 8.1.1 and later, you can navigate to all Measurement Studio examples through the Measurement Studio Core location. The Measurement Studio Core directory contains directory links to hardware library examples.

Refer to the Where to Find Examples help topic in the NI Measurement Studio Help for detailed information on examples locations.

Is Measurement Studio Installed?

To determine if Measurement Studio is installed, from Visual Studio select Help»About Microsoft Visual Studio and then scroll through the Installed products section. Additionally, you should be able to see the Measurement Studio controls in the Visual Studio toolbox and a Measurement Studio menu in Visual Studio.
