'My Favorites' is a special kind of lens which you can use to bookmark modules and collections directly in Connexions. 'My Favorites' can only be seen by you, and collections saved in 'My Favorites' can remember the last module you were on. You need a Connexions account to use 'My Favorites'.

      Definition of a lens

      Lenses

A lens is a custom view of Connexions content. You can think of it as a fancy kind of list that will let you see Connexions through the eyes of organizations and people you trust.

      What is in a lens?

Lens makers point to Connexions materials (modules and collections), creating a guide that includes their own comments and descriptive tags about the content.

      Who can create a lens?

Any individual Connexions member, a community, or a respected organization.

Graphs and Equations

Module by: Interactive Mathematics Program

Intent

The activities in Graphs and Equations use a series of explorations of graphs, In-Out tables, and equations to support the focus in the final set of activities, in Measuring and Predicting, on solving the unit problem.

Mathematics

In these activities, students will build on their work with patterns, functions, and their representations from Patterns and The Overland Trail. They will move among In-Out tables, graphs, and equations for several types of functions, including nonlinear functions. They will also explore ways to vary the shape of a graph by altering coefficients in an equation.

Progression

Graphs and Equations begins with several activities that focus on fitting functions to given sets of data points. Then it moves to an open-ended, technology-assisted exploration of various types of graphs. Finally, several activities ask students to find equations for given linear and nonlinear graphs.
