In this book, I have discussed the major topics in Illinois school finance which impact both sides of the school finance equation: revenues and expenditures. Hopefully I have met the seven eleven test by making school finance understandable for a wide audience of interested stakeholders including those who are employed or have a vested interest in public education. In order to provide our children with a world class education which will allow them to lead productive and self-satisfying lives, we must all share responsibility for fully funding our system of public education. An important first step is to understand the basics of school funding in Illinois.
