Summary: Trong điều kiện tự nhiên ở Đồng Bằng Sông Cửu Long, cây xoài thường ra hoa tự nhiên vào tháng 12-1 và thu hoạch tập trung từ tháng 4-5 (Trần Văn Hâu, 1997). Mặc dù cơ chế sự ra hoa xoài cho tới nay vẫn là điều bí ẩn! (Chacko, 1991), tuy nhiên những nghiên cứu về các yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến sự ra hoa xoài như giống, biện pháp canh tác, khí hậu, đặc điểm sinh lý của cây, đặc biệt là các chất điều hòa sinh trưởng rất được quan tâm nhằm có thể có tìm ra những biện pháp thích hợp để kiểm soát sự ra hoa và sản suất xoài một cách hiệu quả ở những thời điểm thích hợp trong năm.
