Die taal van wiskunde

Die doel van enige taal, soos Engels of Zoeloe, is om vir mense te help om te kan kommunikeer. Alle tale het 'n alfabet, wat bestaan uit 'n groep letters wat gebruik word om woorde te maak. Daar is ook taalreëls wat verduidelik hoe woorde gebruik moet word om sinne te bou. Hierdie taalreëls is nodig sodat die persoon wat die sin lees, presies kan begryp wat die skrywer bedoel. Leestekens (soos punte of kommas) word ook gebruik sodat dit wat geskryf is duidelik word.

Wiskunde is 'n taal. Dit is die taal wat eie is aan die wetenskap. Soos enige taal, het wiskunde ook letters (bekend as syfers) wat gebruik word om woorde (bekend as wiskundige stelling), en sinne ((bekend as wiskundige vergelykings). Die leestekens van wiskunde is die verskillende tekens en simbole wat gebruik word, by voorbeeld, die plusteken (+), die minusteken (-), die maalteken (××), die gelykaanteken (=) en so meer. Daar is ook reëls wat verduidelik hoe syfers saam met tekens gebruik moet word om vergelykings te vorm. Hierdie vergelykings het betekenis.
