'My Favorites' is a special kind of lens which you can use to bookmark modules and collections directly in Connexions. 'My Favorites' can only be seen by you, and collections saved in 'My Favorites' can remember the last module you were on. You need a Connexions account to use 'My Favorites'.
    • A lens (What is a lens?)

      Definition of a lens

      Lenses

A lens is a custom view of Connexions content. You can think of it as a fancy kind of list that will let you see Connexions through the eyes of organizations and people you trust.

      What is in a lens?

Lens makers point to Connexions materials (modules and collections), creating a guide that includes their own comments and descriptive tags about the content.

      Who can create a lens?

Any individual Connexions member, a community, or a respected organization.

Installing Mozilla on a Linux PC

Module by: Ricardo Radaelli-Sanchez, Brent Hendricks

Summary: This module explains how to download and install the Mozilla browser for a PC running the Linux OS. It includes links to all necessary files and a link to a file to test the functionality of the browser.

Installing Mozilla

  1. Download the Mozilla Installer and save it to a convenient location.
  2. Go to the directory in which you've downloaded the installer. Uncompress it by typing: tar -xzvf mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.6-installer.tar.gz This will create a mozilla-installer/ directory.
  3. Execute the mozilla-installer command inside this directory and follow the on screen directions to install Mozilla.

    Note:

This may take a few minutes as there are many files to download and install.

Installing MathML Fonts

To correctly view pages with math content, you will need to install some additional mathematics fonts. Follow these instructions, or contact your system administrator.

Test the Installation

Mozilla should now be able to browse and render MathML. As a test, go to Mozilla's MathML test page and verify that the equations look correct. If you have any difficulties, please contact us.
