Sound Reasoning

Sound Reasoning Long time music author Anthony Brandt adds a new section to his collection, "Sound Reasoning". "Hearing Harmony" is an introductory course on harmony in Western classical music. It is entirely listening based; no ability to read music is required. Aural examples are interpolated directly into the text. "Listening Galleries" provide exercises to strengthen users' confidence. "Hearing Harmony" takes a non-traditional approach: Instead of focusing on chord identification, it puts a priority on harmonic structure. The goal is to provide an accessible and rewarding resource that uses a minimum of technical language and deepens one's appreciation of classical music. "Hearing Harmony" can be used as a stand-alone course; it is also compatible with standard music appreciation and harmony courses, either as preparation or a companion text.
