Biography:

Currently I am a Professor of Educational Leadership and Co-Director of the UCSB/Cal Poly Joint Doctoral Program in the Department of Graduate Studies in the College of Education at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. I am also an adjnct professor in the Educational Leadership and Organizations department at the University of California Santa Barbara. Prior to coming to Cal Poly, I was an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I also held the position of Associate Director of the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). UCEA is a consortium of major research universities focused on improving the preparation of educational leaders and promoting the development of professional knowledge in school improvement and administration. I have written two books and published articles and book chapters in the areas of educational leadership and communication and the executive leadership of the superintendent. My work has primarily focused on superintendent beliefs, roles, and work in the area of instructional leadership, policy decision-making, and social influence in addition to the organizational mission and academic success of the district.
