Biography:

PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford in 1965.

Faculty member at Rice for 44 years.

Visiting faculty member at Erlangen and MIT. Adjunct Prof. at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU).

Has served as dean of engineering, ECE department chair, college master, etc.

Has taught DSP for 35 years. Served on Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Fellow of the IEEE and AAAS, member of ASEE, etc. Published 4 books and over 200 papers.

Received various teaching and research awards including the IEEE Kilby Medal.

Involved in Connexions since its beginning in 1999.
